Namitha started out by participating in the Femina Miss India Contest. She was crowned Miss Surat in 2000 and came fourth in the Miss India contest during the year 2001 along with Trisha Krishnan and Celina Jaitley, who was crowned Miss India Universe. She has acted in Telugu,Tamil, Kannada, Hindi & Malayalam films. She made her debut in the Telugu film Sontham. Subsequent to that, she became famous after the Tamil film Engal Anna opposite Vijayakanth. She starred in Tamil Film Aai the song ‘Arjuna Arjuna…’ along with Sarath Kumar, which ended up as a big hit. This movie dubbed in Hindi as Nayi Baazi (going to release very soon). Her screen name for the first two Telugu movies was Bhairavi. She has also appeared in an English film named Maya directed by Eric Manning.
